Holding Tanks
A sealed tank with no outlet — everything stays in it until a tanker removes it.
Holding tanks are used where on-site disposal is not possible: tight coastal sections, high water table, sensitive catchments, temporary accommodation, and some remote or event sites. There is no treatment and no field; the tank simply stores wastewater.
Because there is no discharge, the emptying frequency is driven purely by volume used. Many holding tanks are fitted with high-level alarms, and scheduled pump-outs are the norm rather than the exception.
